    If you have purchased our USB print server, or if you have a device but are unable to use the included CD, we have several ways to set up the USB print server without using any setup tools.Additional or purchased CDs disks. You can follow the steps below to set up the server for network and custom printing.

    1.) Install the printer drivers/software first and set up a direct USB connection. Don’t use your computer for now. Print out a web test and (optionally) a scan/fax/etc test. Everything is definitely functional up to the neck.

    4.) Now create a TCP/IP port manually. Open Control Panel/Devices and Printers.

    5.) Right click on the installed device. Select printer properties.

    6.) Click the Ports tab. PressClick “Add Port”.

    7.) Select Standard TCP/IP Port. Click New Port.

    8.) The TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard opens.

    9.) Enter the IP address 192.168.1.139 (the default IP address of connected servers). (Optional and desirable: assign a static IP address to someone’s print server. I used a DHCP reservation on the router.) The port designation can be changed. I am using “USB server”. Click Next.
    (Please note that the IP address may differ depending on the DHCP scope of the user’s network. You can obtain the device’s IP address using the USB network server procedure, or check the router configuration by users.)

    10.) Port discovery fails after a few seconds or so. Port settings must be entered manually.

    11.) A new window will open asking for more information about the port. Click on the “Custom” switch and open the windshield settings. Change protocol to LPR Enter the queue name as LPR1 and select the LPR Byte Counting Enabled check box. Select OK.

    12.) Click”Next” and then “Finish”. A new TCP/IP port has been created.

    13.) Close all windows except “Devices” and “Windows Form Dialog”.

    14.) Right-click Printer and select Printer Properties. Open the Ports tab and differentiate from the default USB entry (USB001 on my system). You will also see the default TCP/IP port you created. It will be found in the next steps. Note that you will mainly be using the printer’s standard USB connection for this step in case you need to permanently disconnect the server and reconnect the USB.

    15.) In the “Devices and Printers” window, click “Add a new printer”.

    16.) Select Add local printer.

    17.) Under Use any existing port, select the new TCP/IP port you just created (named USB Server my in the example).

    18.) Select the printer manufacturer and model. Click Next.

    19.Press ) Use the currently set radio button. Click “Next. After a few seconds, you will actually be able to create a test page and installdefault printer.
